Developing our Carbon Reduction Plan
We are proud to be an ISO 14001 certificated company.
The ISO 14001 is an international Environmental Management System standard that provides “assurance to company management and employees as well as external stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved.” Our commitment (and the actions we take) to reduce the impact our business has on the planet are outlined in our Environmental Policy. But like every company, we know we can do more.
We want to further reduce the green-house gases emitted from our business activities. Therefore, reducing the impact our business has on the planet even more. It is why we are in the process of refining a Carbon Reduction Plan that will identify our current “emission hotspots” and how we intend to reduce them. As part of this we are measuring the activities in our business that release Green House Gas (GHGs) emissions.
There are 2 types of green-house gas emissions: direct and indirect. These emissions are categorised as scope 1, scope 2, or scope 3 emissions by the Green House Gas Protocol. Data for scope 3 emissions (all indirect emissions that occur in the value chain of a reporting company) can be difficult to obtain. So, quantifying all scope 3 emissions is not always as easy as calculating scopes 1 and 2 (emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the reporting company and indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy).
As part of our drive to becoming a net-zero company, we will share our scope 1 and 2 emissions on an annual basis from the 31st of January 2023. We remain committed to measuring and reporting all our scope 3 emissions and are currently working out how we can best gather this important data from our value chain.
Additional information:
We are continually reviewing and reducing the impact our business has on the planet. Examples include changes in the packaging materials we use in our Warehouse and a reduction in the amount of our business waste that is now sent to landfill. You can find out more via the links below:
