Stage Electrics completes £185,000 audio and lighting installation at Wimbledon College of Arts
08/03/2021
Following a competitive tender process, Stage Electrics has completed the contract for the supply and installation of specialist stage lighting, audio-visual systems, and curtain track and drapes at the Wimbledon College of Arts on behalf of Neilcott Construction.
Working to a Charcoalblue design covering five performance spaces, the installation included custom-manufactured items including a relay/dimmer fed lighting pipe-grid system with lighting control data in one space, along with many Stage lighting & Audio-visual facility panels and two variants of equipment rack across all five spaces. Owing to the extremely ambitious programme items passed from conceptual design to approved status in less than a week, with fabrication and delivery to site through the next three weeks.
The larger first-floor studio now benefits from a matrix of twelve soffit-mounted strong points, lighting control data distribution and Socapex connections for touring dimmers. All five spaces contain curtain tracks and drapes, plus a green chromakey drape for TV work in one ground floor space, allowing the rooms to be transformed into immersive performance spaces for teaching.
EM Acoustic speakers were used exclusively throughout the project, combined with Denon rack-mountable mixers and media players to offer the students and teaching staff the best quality audio, whilst retaining easy to use functionality and connectivity.
